From a doctor’s perspective, the focus is on treatment of the patient, not how much each step generates in revenue, said Dr. Jeremy Faust, an emergency physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital who has written about sepsis policy.While coding experts within the hospital may ask doctors to record the visit in a way that maximizes the reimbursement, ultimately the hospital is being paid for care it has delivered, Faust said.
